Rare White Jade Reclining Quan Yin statue, the only one of its kind we have ever had. The age and origin of this statue is unknown.
Standing Quan Yin (Kuan Yin) is highly revered manifestation of the Buddha is "one who hears the cries of the world" and personifies the compassion of the Buddha for the needy. Quan Yin is usually represented as a young female deity but she has the power to assume whatever form necessary in order to carry out her vow which is to appear in any way necessary to lead beings out of suffering.
Quan Yin is one of the most universally beloved of deities in the Buddhist tradition. Also known as Kuan Yin, Quan'Am (Vietnam), Kannon (Japan), and Kanin (Bali). She is the embodiment of compassionate loving kindness. As the Bodhisattva of Compassion, She hears the cries of all beings. Quan Yin enjoys a strong resonance with the Christian Mary, the Mother of Jesus, and the Tibetan goddess Tara.
