At one time these carved vessels were commonly used for wine containers during the Shang Dynasty. This Old Bronze Urn is a reproduction from the antiquities shown at the China History Museum. The handles are carved Phoenix birds. The Vase or Urn is heavy and sturdy and would look great as a pair on a mantle or alter.
