Buddha, who is adorned with a beautiful detailed robe is displayed in deep meditation, his right hand pointing to mother Earth. He depicts the Bhumisparsha mudra, also known as the gesture of taking the earth as witness by Buddha. Its representation is the Buddha seated in lotus position with his right hand near the knee with all fingers extended toward the ground with the tip of the finger touching the ground. The mudra literally means "gesture of touching the earth" and portrays the Buddha taking the earth as witness that he has solved the problem of cessation of suffering.
